Meeting Place Change
We will be meeting in Tunnell Hall of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church during the winter due to Sussex Pines being closed Sun-Tues through March. There is ample free parking behind the church. Tunnell Hall is on the far left as you face the back of the church. Meals are catered by My Turn to Cook catering. We've had good attendance at the past two meeting and delicious meals.

Thanks!
Thanks to everyone who helped make our many recent events and activities successful. Thanks to Jan for coordinating a very nice Christmas party and especially for providing the wonderful desserts. Thanks to those who delivered "Cookies for Cops", rang bells for the Salvation Army, delivered Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets or worked at Robin Hood. All are wonderful projects that demonstrate our belief in "Service Above Self."
RYLA
Congratulations to Jordan Carey, a student at Delmarva Christian High School who has been selected as our delegate to RYLA 2012 on President's Day Weekend. Thanks to Marlene Elliott Brown for making this happen and for agreeing to help start an Interact Club at Delmarva Christian in the coming year.
New Paul Harris Fellows
Congratulations to Stephen Kasperski, Rotary Foundation Chair, for his dedication to causing what may have been a historic event for our club. At the November 22nd meeting, six new and four multiple Paul Harris Fellows were recognized. New PHFs are Lin Faucett, Carol Hansen, Stephen Kasperski, Hugh Leahy, Wes Perkins and Linda Price. Welcome New Member
Welcome to Sarah Timmons who transferred to our club from the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club. Sarah has been a very active Rotarian having served as club treasurer. She grew up in Georgetown, attended local schools and graduated from the University of Delaware. Sarah is a CPA and serves as manager of the Georgetown office of Jefferson, Urian, Doane and Sterner, P.A. - Certified Public Accountants. Please welcome Sarah to our club.

Goodbye and Thanks
Over the past several months, several members have transferred to other clubs, requested a leave of absence or have resigned. We thank all of these former members for their dedication and service to our club. Jennifer Antonelli transferred to the Southern Sussex Rotary Club and Jason Bentley transferred to the Lewes-Rehoboth Rotary Club. Jan Fraipont, Ruth Briggs King, Jim Rasa, John Reiley, Henrietta Stack and Gray Warrington requested a leave of absence. Steve Cimo, Roger Reed, Vickie Croley and Dean Rubino have resigned. Steve, Roger and Vickie resigned earlier in 2010 and Dean more recently.
Board Meeting Highlights
The November 17th meeting was called to order by President Bernice Edwards with 12 board members and one member present. Dr. Carl Maschauer reported on the Strategic Planning Retreat that will be held following the January 12th Board meeting and led by Wes Perkins. Chris Couch reported on the Winter Event that will replace the Gala. Community Grants were recommended for: Cafe of Hope, Georgetown Boys and Girls Club, Chimes and Christian Storehouse. The Nominating Committee's report included: President: Jim Rasa; PE: Linda Price; VP: Stephen Kasperski, with Reid Beveridge and Ernie Megee continuing as Secretary and Treasurer. The Board will not meet in December. The next regular Board meeting will be on January 12th from 7:30 to 8:30am (note new time) in Lin Faucett's Board Room at Del Tech. Board meetings last about an hour, are open to all members and count as a meeting make-up.
Community Grants
2010 Grants - Four community organizations received $1000 each in the 2010 Grants cycle. Recipients included: The Way Home, The Georgetown Boys and Girls Club, Crisis House and Georgetown Middle School.

College Scholarships
The Georgetown-Millsboro Rotary Club offers two $1000.00 scholarships to deserving high school seniors from the Georgetown-Millsboro area. Jennifer Ashwell and Kristin Cooper, both of Sussex Central High School, were this year's recipients. Thanks to Wes Perkins who on January 17 got us thinking about the strengths and challenges of our club in preparation for the Board Retreat. Thanks to Reid Beveridge who provided some interesting facts about a little known WWII Battle in Italy. And thanks to everyone, especially Pres. Bernice, participating in the monthly club assembly on January 31st. One of the highlights of that meeting was the approval of next year's officers including: President Linda Price, President-Elect Jim Rasa, VP Stephen Kasperski, Secretary Reid Beveridge, Treasurer Ernie Megee and Asst. Treas. Helen Kruger.
Lisa Cracknell of Nurses 'n Kids, a pediatric medical program, talked about the many programs available including medical day care, before and after school care, summer care, respite care, outpatient therapy and transportation. These services are available statewide with centers located in Milford and New Castle. To learn more, visit www.nurssenkids.com.
The last meeting of 2011 was our monthly Club Assembly. We learned that Sussex Pines would be closed Sun-Tues
"A good time was had by all" at the club Christmas Party held at Coral Bay on December 19th. The food was good, Jan's desserts were wonderful and the Rotary fellowship was festive. If you didn't attend you missed a very nice event.
Dr. Phil Allen, Area 41 PolioPlus Chair told the club that R.I.has now raised over $190 million toward the $200 million goal to match the Gates Foundation grant. Bernice, Dr. Phil and Jan are pictured l-r at right.

April Willey shared a great deal of information about RSVP. Most members were surprised at the many volunteer opportunities that exist for those age 55 and older including student mentoring, meals on wheels, thrift shops and lots more including a rehab program that featured our very own Stephen Kasperski. April said RSVP volunteers are provided with free insurance that will help with the deductible in the event of an accident. during the winter. The decision was made to meet at Tunnell Hall of the Georgetown Presbyterian Church beginning January 3rd. The meal will be catered by My Turn to Cook Catering. Other topics included election of officers and directors that was tabled until January, the January 19th Board Retreat to be led by Wes Perkins (all welcome) and a discussion concerning members with poor attendance. Several potential new members were introduced.
